A New Year Without You

This picture was taken on New Year’s Eve, at midnight, last year. Our lives were so blessed and the future was so bright.

Now, as I face a new year, I am struggling with the realization that I won’t have this man next to me. As much pain as this past year brought me, I don’t want to leave 2021 behind, because Jeremy was still here in 2021. I haven’t faced a year without him for 24 years! I feel like I am, in a sense, leaving him behind. That leaves me sad and frightened.

As I wrote this post, this is what I kept hearing, whispered in my mind:

Fear not, for I am with you.

Fear not, for I AM with you.

Fear not, for I am WITH you.

Fear not.

I honestly don’t know how people do this life without Jesus.
