For many years, she was confined to widow garb, waiting for her father-in-law to do the right thing. Yet, in all those years, God did not forget about her.
For thirteen years, he was unfairly imprisoned and forgotten by man, waiting for God to rescue him. For thirteen years, God stayed with him in the dungeon.
And then…
When the time was right…
- God, Who is Rich in Mercy •
Grafted a Canaanite widow (who prostituted herself in a sinful act of desperation) into the geneology of the promised Messiah.
God saw Tamar.
- God, Who is Always Faithful •
Provided everything Joseph needed to become the man he needed to be, in order to promote him to a position which was exceedingly, abundantly above all he could have imagined!
God saw Joseph.
- God, Who is Mighty to Save •
Not only stayed with Joseph and saved him, but also used him to save his entire family, thus preserving the lineage of Christ.
God saw His people.
- God, Who is Always Working •
All things together for good, never once left Joseph or Tamar out of His care. He was ever behind the scenes, working and remaining faithful to His promises. Those promises led to the greatest promise of all—our salvation.
God saw us!
Oh, my valley-walking, dungeon-dwelling, ash-wearing friends, let this encourage you:
God. sees. you.
For every unbearable moment you’ve been imprisoned by your painful circumstances, He has never forgotten you nor left you alone.
And He never, ever will.
Hang on.
