Hey dad,
What’s it like up there in Heaven?
Is it better than you could have imagined?
Is everyone really always happy?
Hey dad,
What’s it like hanging out with Jesus?
Face to face with the one who died to save us
I know he’s proud of you; are you proud of me?
Everyone keeps telling me I’ll see you one day soon
But living life without you is really hard
So until that day I’ll keep living like you taught me to
I know that God can use the most broken hearts
So dad, if you can hear this
Know I’ll stay steady through this trial
Cuz you taught me that’s what faith looks like
Hey dad,
I’m graduating college next year
Soon enough I’ll have a career
It hurts to know you can’t walk me down the aisle
Hey dad, thanks for teaching me how to preach
And I know you’d laugh at this theology
But I wanna know, do you ever look down and smile?
So until that day arrives and I see you again
I’ll keep pursuing God with my whole life
You taught me that his plan is better than my own
So I’ll keep following in the steps you left behind
So dad, if you can hear this
I promise to keep on
I’m looking after both the girls and mom
And though I miss you every day
I don’t regret a thing
Cuz I know that God is working through this storm
And dad, if you can hear this
Know I’ll stay steady through this trial
Cuz you taught me that’s what faith looks like
