What if
…I don’t get a happy ending?
…This pain doesn’t go away?
…He answers my prayers with “No?”
…Life never looks like I hoped?
…I lose again?
I know God can—but what. if. He. doesn’t?
What if???
Faith is so much more than believing He can.
Faith is trading our “what-ifs” with “even ifs.”
Faith is flipping every “if only” to “only God.”
Faith isn’t “will you, Lord?;” faith is “your will, Lord.”
Even if
…I don’t get a happy ending
…This pain doesn’t go away
…He answers my prayers with “No”
…Life never looks like I hoped
…I lose again
Your will, Lord. Let me not bow to the will of another. Not even my own.
Even if
…He chooses not to rescue me from the fire, He will certainly be with me in it. May my faith be big enough to say “even if.”
So that, when I refuse to bow, a watching world can peer into my trial and see Him.
That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ (I Peter 1:7)
