Sometimes, it’s good to remind myself that I don’t corner the market on suffering.
I was watching my new favorite podcast today, and one of the guys (Josh) was walking through the streets of Ukraine while they talked. He didn’t say much, but what he did say made me stop and take notice.
Friends, there’s an entire world of sufferers out there. Some, enduring things we can’t even begin to imagine. Many of them don’t know our Savior. They don’t have our living Hope. This breaks the heart of God!
What if we’re not supposed to suffer in silence? What if God wants us to live out loud? To display His love and grace to a lost world. For the glory of God and for the Kingdom!
What if it’s not about us, at all?
Once you’ve seen God for who He truly is, how could you possibly remain unchanged? How could you ever keep it to yourself?
How could I?
At the end of this short life is eternity. Every soul must face it. For those of us who know Jesus, the suffering we experience here will be nothing compared the joy we will experience—forever! But, for those who face eternity without Him, the sufferings of this life are but the tip of the iceberg.
If that doesn’t put our pain in perspective, I don’t know what will.
What will I do with this gift of suffering? Will I waste it? Or, will I put on my “perspectacles” and see it as my Savior does? Oh, blessed opportunity…
I may yet even learn to count it all joy; because in my trial, I get to see Him.
